Tim Allen

Tim has spent a fair bit of time at the studio recently working on a large series of new monotypes. Tim had not had much previous experience with monoprinting and these are just a few examples from the large series he has produced – very painterly and built over a number of print sessions to create varied, complex and richly coloured unique works on paper.

Made using successive layers of ink films, he has scratched and drawn into each with a range of implements creating a richly dynamic language that explores many different colour possibilities. It’s an exciting process because it often generates surprising results that seeds new prints and the process becomes ongoing - generating as many questions as answers within the explorative visual language.
