Cathie Pilkington RA

I regularly make prints with Cathie and we both like to explore different approaches to print that combine visual languages.

This set of prints combines her love of drawing on lithographic stones combined with hand drawn elements that become digital printed colour underlays. We particularly like the combination of “old school” analogue lithography with the controlled versatility of digital print.

The visible outline of the full stone shape defines the image area of each print In this luminously coloured series and something we returned to her recent ‘Elephant in the Womb’ print series.

Creating the key line imagery on the stone enables Cathie to explore her love of drawing and mark making that stone lithography offers, adding and removing artwork and reproofing to satisfactorily arrive at the finished print.
