Alison Wilding RA

Alison first came to my studio to try some different printmaking approaches that included zinc plates and monoprinting. She found the processes interesting but unsatisfactory for her specific needs.

Instead, we began to work on a number of print projects which utilised the digital print medium to help realise her intensely autographic imagery. For these works, I would start with her carefully constructed collage pieces, by scanning the images at hi resolution before proofing, colour correcting and printing the edition on a larger scale format.

Alison was interested in using a paper stock not generally considered a natural choice for pigment print and this added an unusual visual and physical quality to the finished work. Each print was subsequently worked on with a hand applied spot varnish.
