Alison Wilding RA
Alison first came to my studio to try her hand at some different printmaking approaches that included zinc plates and monoprinting. Whilst she found these processes interesting to explore they didn’t yield results that matched her specific needs.
Instead, we changed tack and began to work on a number of print projects which utilised the digital print medium to help realise her specific intentions.
For these works, I would start with her carefully constructed paper collages, by scanning the images at high resolution before proofing, colour correcting, and printing the edition on a larger scale format.
Alison was interested in using a paper stock not generally considered a natural choice for pigment print, which added an unusual visual and physical quality to the finished work.
Each print was subsequently worked on with a hand applied spot varnish.
