Vivienne Westwood

Late in 2023 fashion designer Jeff Banks contacted me to discuss the idea of creating a print portfolio using Vivienne’s unique artwork to help raise money for Greenpeace and other charitable concerns that Vivienne passionately supported.

At that time, Vivienne was very poorly but she still managed to sign 100 sheets of paper from her hospital bed, which formed the basis for the digital print suite of ten, bespoke portfolios.

Each design was selected by her from the full 52 card artworks that she had created over many years. Considerable discussion and thought went into the final look and presentation of the 10 deluxe portfolios that were printed posthumously.

In addition to digital pigment printing, the portfolio also featured lithographic and screen printed elements and I was ably assisted by my skilled friend and former colleague, Sharon Lee, who produced the beautiful Solander portfolio boxes. The first portfolio of the edition was sold at Christies, London in 2024 with all proceeds given to Greenpeace.
